Court Accompaniment service for those affected by sexual violence
What is it?
Court Accompaniment is the name given to a range of services to support victims of sexual violence.
The services is provided by specialisists from Rape Crisis Centres throughout the Country.
Services include:
- Practical support before, during and after reporting any sexual offence
- Emotional support before, during and after reporting any sexual offence
- Support in understanding the legal process, including clarification of legal terminology and understanding
your rights
- Accompaniment, by specially trained Rape Crisis Centre personnel, to Garda Stations, forensic and medical
examminations and court hearings
- Assistance in the preparation of your victim impact statements if there is a conviction
